The Shrine of Divine Mercy at Anna Nagar East, Chennai, India was the first in Asia. The Pioneer Rev. Fr Michael Raj recalls, the entire planning, construction and dedication to the Divine Mercy were a nothing less than a miracle.

The Shrine became a reality due to the untiring and joint efforts of the Parishners of St. Luke Church, Anna Nagar, the Visionary Pioneer Rev Fr. Michael Raj, Rev Sr. Mary Theodore O.A.M. of “MITHRA” that takes care of the physically and mentally challenged people and the cooperation of Society of St Paul, India.

The Shrine of Divine Mercy was consecrated and dedicated to the people and for the greater Glory of God on 29th June 2003, by Most Rev. Aruldas James, the Archbishop of Madras Mylapore and the feast was celebrated on 18th April 2004.

On the either side of the alter are the blessed relics of St. Faustina who was guided by God to begin the devotion, to the Divine Mercy, and Blessed James Alberione the founder of Society of St. Paul.

A grotto to honor our blessed mother Mary was constructed, blessed and dedicated to the people by Rev. Jose Pottayil.SSP, Vicar General, Rome, on October 1st 2004. This year also commemorates the centenary year of St. Faustina.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
